Sound card differences

I have a Nforce 3 250GB Motherboard with the onboard 7.1 channel sound. I also have a Audigy LS Sound card and an Audigy 2 Standard sound card.

If I went witha PCI audio card, I'm assuming the Audigy 2 would be the one to go with, however, wouldnt the onboard Nforce 3 sound perform better (Maybe not have as good 3D effects, but PERFORM) than a PCI add in card simply because its built in to the mainboard that the computer runs off of. It's not a huge concern as far as which will give me better surround sound, because they all support some sort of 360 degree sound feeling, but performance wise, which is better. I seem to be having a touch time finding reviews where sound cards are compared with frames per second in games.

Also, does signal to noise ratio mean if Ive got my speakers cranked way up, that I will hear less hissing from them? Thanks in advance.

The nForce 3 has neither this special APU nor the Soundstorm certification that some nForce 2 board with MCP-T's have. It's basically just another typical integrated sound. Keep the audigy 2 if you want good sound.
