Today I was listening to MP3s thru winamp and then all the sudden there was this distortion. So i close winamp and open it again and it is there again. I put in a cd and listen to it through windows media player and still the distortion. Then I plug my speakers into my MP3 player and there isnt any distortion. I Have Creative Live! 5.1 with updated drivers..Am i missing something? HELP

If you are using analog connection to your speakers, and you are using powered speaker system, make sure you are plugging into the line out, and not the speaker out. If there are both jacks on the back of your sound card, the speaker out is amplified, which will cause distortion with powered speakers. If you are plugging into the correct jack, try backing down your volumn in the software volumn settings.

Is it distortion or crackling? What M/B chipset are you using? If you have the Via chipset, this i a known problem and most of the time is resolved by installing the newest Via 4-in-1 drivers and the Via Latency Patch available at ViaHardware.com. Any other chipsets I would check your Mobo Manufactures website and chipset websites.

Hope this helps.
