Sound card and fan advice for my first build

I just got my antec sx1030b case in the mail today and was mighty excited🙂
however, it's time to get my other parts and was wondering if anyone might have any ideas as to what sound card I should get. I'll play some games (RtW, CS, Max Payne), listen to music, and watch dvds with it.

Also, the case came w/ two 80mm fans and I'm planning on buying and OC'ing a P4, and the case has another fan slot in the front. Should I buy another one, or move one to the front? Any ideas or tips will be appreciated. Thanx😉

Save your money for school and pickup a Live card. Some of the newer cards are better but not enough to justify the price unless you have some killer speakers. For the fans, I would just leave them in back. In fact, for my similar case, I have two fans running at 7 volts to knock down the noise some. You could move one to the front but it won't matter much, if at all.

Take a look at the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz....one of the best sound cards out there for the money. As for the case fans, there should be two mounts in the front. Get yourself a couple more fans and throw them in...the top one will keep your HDD's cool. You may even want to replace the two Antec fans for something quieter. I personally like Panaflo L1A's.

I second the Panaflo L1A's. Very quiet, and they move enough air for a P4 setup. As for the sound card, you probably would be good with an SB Live! or TB Santa Cruz. Both very good cards for a cheap price. As for speakers, I would take a look at the Logitech Z-560's. They cost $199.00, but they're THX certified, and very well powered (400 watts, which is excellent for listening to music). They don't have a center channel though, so maybe not ideal for DVD's.

I second the TB Santa Cruz. Really good card most especially if you're into music listening. The Panaflo L1A fans are also excellent if you're into music listening. 🙂
