sound blips

I have an Athlon 1.2 GH, KT7A Raid, and a Soundblaster Live X-Gamer. When trying to list to music, I get blips/skips/clipping (whatever you wish to call it) no matter what the source (i.e. mp3, shoutcast, cd). I figure it has to be some issue between the motherboard and sound card. I know its not my speakers (Creative DTT2500). I was wondering if anyone has this problem ... and maybe a solution.

Thanks,

There were a lot of problems with the SB Live family from what I remember. Is the SB sharing an IRQ with anything? What other cards do you have in there? Try putting the SB in a dif slot (without moving anything else, and 'removing' the sb from windows before you physicaly move it). The manual will tell you which slots are shared w/what.

no i think the video card is fine. i have a voodoo3, 3c905c ethernet card, hollywood plus, and soundblaster live. i cheacked before to see if there was irq sharing issue but i didn't find anything. i will check in the manual.

thanks for the suggestions.

I have the sblive and a geforce2 with no prob. Its a great sound card so dont be scared away by that post. IRQ are important though the sblive must have its own. Place it in the 3rd slot i beleive that has its own irq on your mobo. But double check I'm the farthest thing from an expert you'll ever meet. I'm also using 6.72 but have tried them all with out probs.
