From the above article:

"So where does that leave Audigy 2 ZS owners? If you use speakers, the differences are probably too subtle to make the upgrade worthwhile. With headphones, however, an upgrade yields noticeably improved sound. Also in the X-Fi?s favor is the ability play up to 128 audio streams in such games as Battlefield 2 at the highest quality setting. That might sound like overkill, but on a 64-person server, the game will generate more than the 64 audio streams the 2 ZS is capable of."

Forget it then Creative Labs! I'm sticking with the Audigy 2 ZS instead of switching over to your new soundcard! What a let down!

I like that part, I have a SB Audigy 1, so the X-Fi would be a pretty large upgrade for me. I also use my headphones quite a bit (when parents are sleeping). :)

Is this better than an Audigy 2 ZS?

You're kidding right? Not only does this use the new xi-fi chipset, it is also one of the higher end models.

No, I'm not kidding. Is the X-Fi Music version substantially better than the Audigy 2 ZS?

I still haven't got a straight answer to this question. The only answer I've seen is that this thread is about the X-Fi. I know that. But I want to know if the X-Fi Music version substantially better than the Audigy 2 ZS?

I owned a SB live 5.1 , Maudio 7.1, Audigy, Audigy 2, Audigy 2 Zs,an now the XFi

I noticed a distinct music difference as soon as I dropped it in--highs more prounounced, midrange clarity improved--bass about the same.

The drivers and control are far nicer than on the older ZS cards. to get this control and accuracy on the ZS you need to use the KX drivers but thats a whole other topic lol)

Is it worth 300 for some of the verssions NO, but for the 75 AR in the hot deals section it is a significant music upgrade from the ZS in my opinion and cheap

the platinum drive bay is also VERY nice imo, but the ribbon cables sucks lol

I dont game so I dotn know about that

I bought the platinum version as part of my future rig, I think the Fatal1ty version is overpriced and the X-Ram effect isn't that impressive because only a handful of games have support to it.
