What is the different between Sound Blaster Platinum and Sound Blaster MP3 besides the Platinum has the fromt panel and MP3 doesn't? Is the sound card itself the same? If it's the same, is there anyway I can just buy the front panel? Thanks

Creative is smoking crack. You can buy the Live Drive directly from them. They have two different versions. One has the optical stuff and it sells for $149.95. The one w/o the optical stuff sells for $129.95. I can't believe that.

Platinum and MP3+ packages have the same exact card. The marketing on the box is full of it.

MP3+ has the MP3 related software.

X-Gamer has the three games: Thief, NFS4, and Descent 3.

Platinum has all the software from both the MP3+ and X-Gamer along with the Live! Drive.

What is so special about the live drive? Why is it so expensive? I am curious... Thanks

If you want to add a LiveDrive later, it will not work on the Live Value, so keep that in mind. The LiveDrive is basically a convenience thing, it allows you to connect your audio stuff to the front of your case instead of the back. Sort of like what some TV's and VCR's have done, by adding RCA jacks to the front of them. It also adds a headphone jack. If you get a LiveDrive II, you also get TOS connectors, and RCA input.

One word: Convenience.

All the connectors are in the front for easy access.

I personally don't care much about it. That's $125 US that could be spent on extra RAM :). Nice novelty and is an option to those that want it for their MP3+ or X-Gamer cards.
