I have heard on some sites that if you install the original drivers, instead of the latest ones first, that there would be a significant performance decrease. Is this true?

My drivers were made in 10-5-99 (the ones that came in the driver disc).
 
I would suggest to have you SB drivers at Live!Ware 3.0 level

Would would be a performance decrease on a sound card???? Plays music slower? 😕
 
When I installed my sound card, My FPS in Quake 3 dropped from 40 to 30fps in DEMO 127. Is that normal or could the performance decrease be because of the older drivers?
 
I've upgraded to the Liveware 3 for Win 2000 Pro, and they work fine for me (but I'm not heavily into gaming, so maybe my opinion doesn't count 🙂.
