Sound Blaster Live Question (one last one)

In order to get your SB Live card to work right with Win XP, do you have to install any other Creative software other thant that new Update they have for you to download? I just reformatted and want to make sure my steup works right this time. In other words, do you need to install the software that came with you SB Live card in addition to the driver updates?

My feeling with my Audigy and XP is that Creative's drivers aren't quite ready yet. I installed XP clean, installed the cd drivers, then applied the update, and the machine was screwed. I un-installed 3 or 4 more times until it got fairly stable, but there are gremlins. On a previous install my Platinum 5.1 and XPs WDM drivers worked flawlessly.

The thing is, when you try to install the drivers/software that came with my 5.1 Live! card, the computer says that it was not designed for Win XP and you may have problems. So is it okay to just install the update drivers for win xp on creative's site? (the ones that are about 9mb in size)

No you don't... I believe Windows XP had drivers for the Live already. My Audigy needed Liveware to run on XP though but it worked first time out. 😀
