Obviously if you want surround sound, the best wouldn't be computer speaker surround sound. You can get a nice Home Theater System that will certainly sound great.
And if you use the Game Theater XP, you can send outputs to the Home Theater System which will definitely let u listen to mp3s and CDs quite nicely.

This is all assuming that you are watching DVD's on a TV with a DVD player. (you can do the same things using a DVD player in ur computer with a monitor) But I don't really like watching DVD's on a monitor.. even if it is 21".

Tornado, I think you need to stop and think a minute about where and when you like to do each of these things.
For me, watching DVD's should be no where but with my as$ firmly planted on the comfy couch with the big TV and a spunky HT system. Not on my butt killing office chair infront of my dinky 17" monitor.
MP3's, i don't do. Period.
CD's, i do a butt load of. I don't care about pretend surround sound with my CD's. But i do run 4-6 very nice monitor speakers via a large amp when listening to music. I'm very anal about the quality of my music and don't listen to too much on the pc. Sound on the pc is mostly for games for me.
So, like i said, i think you need to think a minute about what you like and when you like to do it. Yes, garner some ideas from folks on here, but don't forget your taste is what matters. Not what skippy across the country says "rules".
