First I've heard of someone saying that. Everything I've read on this game so far (and I've read a LOT), the Gamecube controller is oft the least liked. I honestly don't think it'd be a hindrance though, so I wouldn't worry about springing for the stick yet. With anything, it just takes time to get used to after you use the standard button layout like the PS2 or XBOX (sans b&w buttons) have.Originally posted by: Metalloid

Yeah I played the demo at gamestop on GC. I actually liked it better on the GC controller than on X-box....
I've played SC2 on an Xbox, a ermm, early release 🙂 The standard controller sucks for Soul calibur, it's a little too large and the other analog joystick gets in the way. It's a shame really, because SC1 plays like a dream on the dreamcast controller which really isn't that different. I own an cube and will probably get the cube version, but I think an arcade stick would be a must. While the cube controller might be slightly more playable, (i need pics to show how awkward it was) it's still not very good. I think 90% of my problem comes from playing the dreamcast version to absolute death, and it just so happens that the layout is perfect on the DC.
That said, it's a great game, but I think Spawn is cheap. He's fast and powerful, short reach but he moves so fast and combos well so it's a moot point. I do like the new moves and characters. The annoying thing about SC1 is that half your characters were different skins to the other half with maybe one or two slightly different moves. SC2 fixes it nicely and they managed to add a little more depth to the game.
