Soul Calibur 1 (Dreamcast) is coming to XBLA. Awesome

I love SC1. Having it on XBLA would be awesome. I still play it on the dreamcast now and then. Joystiq

But if they can fit SC1 on XBLA, where the heck is Killer Instinct?! Dammit

The Dreamcast version of Soul Calibur was pure awesome. It would be fantastic to have that on the 360, with online play. Seems like it would exceed the XBLA size requirements pretty handily, though...

SC was really the only one I liked. Part 2 was decent but i started to not like the game mechanics of that game.

KI on the other hand ... i'd take that over any other game!

Stoked about KI. I REALLY wish they'd release Marvel vs. Capcom 2 though (so I wouldn't have to spend $70+ on ebay to get it...)

I heard KI and MvC 2 work great on the original XBox. 😉

KI was lame anyway, with the ridiculous unblockable mega-combos.
SC was kick-ass, though.
You were not good at the KI.

I never bothered getting good at it because it was lame 😉
I want to play games, not memorize a sequence of button presses.

Heh. I remember going to the recreation center during college and there were guys who would print out pages of moves from newsgroups at the time. I didn't even bother trying to play the game when they were around.

Well he is kinda right... you can only break them up until a certain point or something along those lines. I haven't played KI in a long time so my memories are kinda hazy. I do remember my stupid brother using Orchid's 32 hit combos against me 🙁. Fortunately, my favorite character's (Cinder) combo breaker wasn't that hard but his combos were rather short.

That's just something people that aren't good at a game say. 😉

KI was an AMAZING game when it came out. The Ultra64 light engine was just jaw dropping. Nothing like it around. The game mechanics were a little different so some people had a problem adjusting. But the game was great! I still play it off and on. And it's the original arcade version, not the cheesy N64 version.

Killer Instinct was an SNES exclusive, I doubt the big N is going to be letting Rare, which is a Nintendo owned, company release it for XBLA

Rare is owned by MS now. The question should be whether or not KI's publishing rights are owned by Nintendo or Rare.

I won't argue on the graphics front 🙂
When a game is both fun and a bit tricky to learn, I have no problems with it. THPS2 was like crack to me when it came out... and MAN did I ever suck at it first. But it didn't require learning this combo leads into that one, which you follow with this one, and end with that one...

there was a lot to learn in ki ...

you act as though you could just close your eyes and press 2 buttons and end up w/a 30 hit ultra combo.

there was a ton of timing, combo linking, and buttn combinations you had to do to get big combos.

I had no idea what I was doing but by randomly hitting buttons (I am not exaggerating here) at the one time I played it at the arcade I did the "ultra combo" finisher 3 rounds in a row. So yeah, it really is just about hitting buttons.

Is this the first dreamcast game available? I didn't know dreamcast games were on Live. Powerstone anyone?

Powerstone...now that was a surprisingly great game. I didn't find out about it until Powerstone 2 was out, went over to my buddy's place and he had it. That was amazing. Dreamcast had some great games, sorry that it didn't stay afloat.

DC games that need to be turned into DLC games:

Powerstone 1 & 2
Crazy Taxi
Marvel vs. Capcom 2

I haven't played KI on a regular basis in years. It's really hard to pick up and play that game after a long break. Can't remember a single combo past 8 hits.

SC, on the other hand...well, just mash away and you'll get the feeling right back.

No, exactly the opposite, you're pointing out just what I didn't like about it.

KI was a wonderful game. You COULD do big 30 hit combos but they did less and less damage as you increased the number of hits and it gave your opponent more and more chances to break them. It was quite rare for people to get big combos off at the arcade I played at. Anything more than 4-8 hits and you'd get it broken. If you were good and played against others that were good you'd stick to short but damaging combos and only pull out the long ones when playing against people that weren't very good. Kind of like the 10 hit combos in Tekken.
