I never said you had to like it. That is just the way it is. Him whining and complaining is no different than your whining and complaining about him since the incident. It's getting old.

wrong, my whining and complaining stays on this board.

his whining and complaining becomes an example for all young ball players and many young people. he tries to maintain this good role model image, i'm just saying live up to it.

no, we dont' know that it was a mistake (accidental). We don't know if he used it INTENTIONALLY or accidentally. we only have his word for it and as i said, in my opinion, it is VERY VERY hard to believe he didn't notice the difference in weight.

when i change golf clubs or tennis rackets, i could be blindfolded and i'd INSTANTLY feel a difference in weight and balance, IT is extremely difficult to believe that a PRO would NOT notice the difference.

and that adrenalin excuse is pathetic, adrenalin makes you MORE aware of your performance not less. at least it does for those that perform well in front of big crowds and it has always been my observation that sammy sosa performs well in front of big crowds.

Sorry, I didn't know you were a professional baseball player. I'll try to keep that in mind.

Think about it when he is about to break a record he isn't going to use a corked bat.

He uses a corked bat in certain situations when he feels it gives him an edge and it backfired.

If you think it was a mistake I guess OJ was framed also.

1 out of 76 bats was corked...you'd risk breaking a bat and being exposed? I think not.

He used it in practice to hit the ball farther to show off for fans.

Why is that so hard to believe?

1 out of 76!

Do you have any proof of this? I guess Mark McGuire did the same thing, right? He just hasn't been caught yet.

of course one out of 76. it would be STUPID to cork em all. you only need one corked bat, cuz when it breaks, your over 😛

In my post above I said "I claimed that he used that bat to do home run shows and didn't mean to use it during the game."

I meant to say "They claimed..."

Anyway, I think that suspending him is fair, but an 8 game suspension is a little much for something like this when it seems to clearly be an accident. I'm not saying it was an accident, but when you have no other real reason to believe that this often happened, I think he should be given the benefit of the doubt.

Accident or not though, he broke the clearly stated rule. He's stupid if it was an accident, and hes a cheater if it wasnt

albert bell got 7 games... and he (and his team) tried to cover it up. so i assume sammy's suspension shouldn't be as harsh as alberts. it sorta makes sense to me.

how about because he hasn't hit many hr this season, how about because he had an 0fer a few nights before. sosa has been in a slump so he tries the corked bat, that's VERY believable and only someone enamored with sosa or Naive would totally dismiss the possibility.

wasnt it 7 games after an appeal?

he is appealing so he can play the yankees. Plus everybody appeals because there is no reason not to. I think he'll probably withdraw the appeal on monday.

How about it was an honest mistake? That's even more believable given the facts we've seen and only somebody incredibly naive would dismiss it.

yes... so i'm guessing after the appeal, sammy wll get like 5 games? like someone already mentioned... i think baseball expects appeals.

Who was it was saying Sosa is taking his medicine?? the appeal is a CROCK. WTF is he appealing?? he's gonna claim what that the bat wasn't really his?? that he wasn't the one that ACTUALLY swung it?? that the glove didn't fit??

OMFG, 8 game suspension is NOT abnormal for this infraction, He got CAUGHT, put up and SHUT UP.

he's just a spoiled whining athlete and that smiling facade of his is nothing more than a marketing opportunity.

I listen to WFAN, a NYC sports talk radio station, during my commute and I am always surprised by the love - hate relationship people have with athletes. Jeez athletes are not superheros or demigods. They are entertainers who get paid well for doing something that maybe a couple hundred other people can do well.

Sosa made a mistake, admitted to it, and apologized. That is enough for me.
I am sure that people are going over every video of him at bat to see what bat he used.

Lee, if you killed somebody on accident, and you are sentanced to 8 years after your first trial, would you appeal or not?

where is the evidence that sammy did it on accident?

there is only evidence that he did it. clear and incontrovertible evidence that he broke the rule.

don't ask me hypotheticals that are meaningless.

He ONLY has one corked bat at a time. What is so hard to understand? He is not stupid. He isn't going to have a lot of corked bats lying around for people to find. I'm sorry if you are a Cubs or a Sosa fan.
Look on the bright side, I am sure a lot of players have corked bats and/or use steroids.

ahahaha, I cant believe it. After you posed a MEANINGLESS "hypothetical" in your first post that did not matter because he did not claim it in his appeal.

What a moron. 😀

There is no evidence he did it on purpose, you're just assuming it was on purpose. The story he gave was very believable, none of his other bats are corked, he admitted to his mistake, apologized, etc. There haven't been any cover ups or denials or whatever... why do you still want to think he did it on purpose? Oh yeah, because he makes several million a year more than you, so he can't make mistakes.

WRONG moron, he specifically asked me to respond to a HYPOTHETICAL scenario. I just asked RHETORICAL questions to make a point. HUGE difference.

mb go to school and learn a bit.

Actually in response to my post you said:

he didn't, if you read my post it is VERY clear i was asking HYPOTHETICAL QUESTIONS.

Maybe you should go back to school so you quit contradicting yourself. 😀

What moron would try to cover up something that was exposed to the public? you make just as many assumptions as i do. the fact that he walked off the field without trying to recover the broken bat means NOTHING. it could be that he is SMART enough not to panic.

the fact that none of the other bats were corked means NOTHING. he played it smart that's why he hasn't been caught till now.
