Sosa's Appeal. WHAT A CROCK.

Who was it was saying Sosa is taking his medicine?? the appeal is a CROCK. WTF is he appealing?? he's gonna claim what that the bat wasn't really his?? that he wasn't the one that ACTUALLY swung it?? that the glove didn't fit??

OMFG, 8 game suspension is NOT abnormal for this infraction, He got CAUGHT, put up and SHUT UP.

he's just a spoiled whining athlete and that smiling facade of his is nothing more than a marketing opportunity.

he admitted it was a mistake to use the bat, adn when they check ~70 of his bats tehy didnt find any more cork, it Could have been bad luck, I would give him benefit of doubt. on a side note

Did somebody say Mcdonalds?

I claimed that he used that bat to do home run shows and didn't mean to use it during the game.

No other bats had been corked, and he's never been questioned before. I believe it was an accident.

where did he claim the bat was not his

he didn't, if you read my post it is VERY clear i was asking HYPOTHETICAL QUESTIONS.

Uh, no.

he's gonna claim what that the bat wasn't really his??

He and the team already appealed the suspension, and you had any fvsking clue what you were talking about you would not have said that.

NOT the point. He has been CAUGHT using it, what you believe is not relevant. the issue is DID he use a corked bat or not? answer is YES he did, hence he deserves to be suspended.

the fact that the 70 other bats were not corked means NOTHING. only a moron would cork 20 or 30 bats.

and i have a hard time believing that he didnt' feel the difference in weight.

everyone appeals. baseball expected it. you think they don't want sosa vs the rocket?

And the point of his appeal is that

a) he doesnt want to be suspended against the yankees
and more importantly
b)an 8 game suspension IS, statistically, on the high side of suspension averages (after appeals) in the last 15 or so years. he was completely forthcoming and honest about it being corked, unlike notable other corkers who have tried to cover it up but got 7-8 games too.

Every player appeals every fine / suspension they get. It is almost automatic.

doesn't mean i have to like it.

it's one thing to appeal a fine for arguing with an umpire or running at another player (not hitting mind you but running at) because some of those things are JUDGEMENT calls. this was NOT a judgement call, there has been NO CONTROVERSY as to whethor or not it was corked and as to whethor or not he USED it, hence there is NO GROUNDS for an appeal.

again, if it was one where his team kept coming up and saying, well the events could be interpreted this way . . . then i could see grounds for an appeal. THIS IS NOT THE CASE HERE.

People make mistakes, even professional athletes, believe it or not. Everybody knows it was just a mistake, so they are appealing the sentance, not the ruling.

Of course there is. If I get caught with a joint and get sentenced to life in jail while 10 other people in the exact same circumstance got probation, that's grounds for appeals. Same here, albeit on a lesser scale. He's appealing the punishment not the finding of guilt.

I never said you had to like it. That is just the way it is. Him whining and complaining is no different than your whining and complaining about him since the incident. It's getting old.

no, we dont' know that it was a mistake (accidental). We don't know if he used it INTENTIONALLY or accidentally. we only have his word for it and as i said, in my opinion, it is VERY VERY hard to believe he didn't notice the difference in weight.

when i change golf clubs or tennis rackets, i could be blindfolded and i'd INSTANTLY feel a difference in weight and balance, IT is extremely difficult to believe that a PRO would NOT notice the difference.

and that adrenalin excuse is pathetic, adrenalin makes you MORE aware of your performance not less. at least it does for those that perform well in front of big crowds and it has always been my observation that sammy sosa performs well in front of big crowds.

Does anyone really think he has more than one corked bat?

Think about it when he is about to break a record he isn't going to use a corked bat.

He uses a corked bat in certain situations when he feels it gives him an edge and it backfired.

If you think it was a mistake I guess OJ was framed also.

let it go. why didn't we see this many threads when they started talking about all the accusations of players taking steroids? so what, his bat was corked. take a few yards off all of his homers and they still go over the fence.
