Listening to the Reds game on the internet and Marty Brenneman just reported that Sammy broke his bat and cork flew everywhere.

What does a corked bat do?

its lighter so batters can get a better head speed is the theory. don't think anyone has any conclusive proof that it makes for a better bat than a standard one

oh... i thought they used aluminium bats. Wow, he must have expected it to break then if the inside was cork...

Just saw shots of it, i don't know if it was corked but there was something suspicious looking about the bat.

you would have dead pitchers and 3rd basemen if they used aluminum bats.
