Installed a third party utility program and I am now receiving Blue Screen Registry error: "Can't load file: \SystemRoot\System32\Config\Software, log or alternative".

(Lesson learned).

I am cannot boot to safe mode or to command prompt. Norton Rescue Disk startup returns to this Blue Screen error message. Need help how to correct error or how to acces registry to edit so system can boot.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Not looking forward to system re-install.

Do you have another way to get to the files? Possibly a second OS installed on the PC?

Well, I gues this depends on if you can get to the files you need. Also, it may depend on if System Restore was active. Here is a link that could help:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545

Part one will at least get your PC to boot. Make sure that you complete step two to restore all applications and settings in your registry. If snapshots are saved of the last time you used the PC before the error, you should be able to restore it to its normal state.

If that fails you, you might build yourself a UBCD4Win disk. Lots of good tools including registry editing.

Thanks. Took a peek at the site and it appeared a challenge. But I'll get into it when I have a bit more time to dedicate.
