Downloading right now-huge step from the former official 6043....But are there any performance improvements or they just fix some bugs? Anyone tried them earlier? I wonder if vsync works properly now just for starters ....

Thanks! I can set my refresh rate to 75 hertz with my Samsung 171P at its native resolution. The previous drivers allowed me to set it at 70 hertz.

UPDATE: N/M At first the drivers recognized my LCD monitor as a different brand which allowed me to set it at 75 hertz but after rebooting, it only allwowed 70 hertz.

:Q Holy Christ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This driver set rocks the world!!!!!!!!!... I see my card just acquired Hardware T&L!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't hold my jaws off the floor-3DMark went 500pts up

and in the settings tab it says I have HARDWARE T&L!!!!!!!! I swear it said software with the previous one (6043)......I ll post the link to my results in a while.........
PLUS in 3DWinbench2000 (DX7 benchmark) I also have HARDWARE T&L ENABLED!!!! Amazing, stunning ,fabulous......+10% performance blow :Q

Jesus, I 'll relax and post back.....

Here are the 3DMark Results in detail. Notice at the bottom says "Rendering Pipeline: D3D HARDWARE T&L" !!!!!
Compare with any other project for Radeon VE published and u 'll see it says SOFTWARE!! :Q
HOW THE HELL CAN THAT BE??? Once again , I have to say the performance boost for such a crippled card is tremendous! I can't imagine what the 8500 that share the same drivers set would be like....!😀

P.S: Gimme more....Max Payne's video settings tab under acceleration: New Option-D3D Hardware T&L**Even Sandra2002 reports now a device with hardware T&L acceleration....
ATi rocks the nation....🙂

I've had the leaked beta 6071 drivers for quite some time... even had the 6052 and 6058 sets, I guess ATI has decided to skip from 6043 to 6071... ATI drivers have been absotively posolutely outstanding for my 8500 since the 6043s. After using the 6071 for a few weeks, I can say that they are a very solid set.

I hear these drivers finally fix the texture uploading bugs in ATi's routines so everyone should see some nice performance gains overall.

It's good to see ATi really getting the drivers right for the most part and since the 6043s most people have been extremely happy.

Ok now that things are settling down after the first shock here is my summary of this fabulous driver set from ATi (actually it's a gift-as if I changed my Radeon VE with a GeForce2 MX400! 🙂 )
a. The performance boost is major and is up to 500pts in 3Dmark2001 and +10% fps in most games
b. The most important thing for me and my crippled VE core is that the card is EVERYWHERE (Sandra, 3Dmark, 3DWinbench, Max Payne menu etc.) reported as having HARDWARE T&L enabled and existent. Question is how can a driver provide sth that the core lacks of? Could it command in a way T&L to be done in the GPU and not the proccessor?? Any ideas?
c. Can anyone with a card of better performance than mine check whether ATi's vsync works now? Mine can't reach 75fps anyway.....😱

Same ones aren't they? Can someone clarify this for us. I am a click away from ordering this Herc card...🙂

<< will these drivers work for my hercules 3d prophet FDX 8500le? >>

don't know about the hercules, but they don't seem to work with my gigabyte radeon...it says "display driver is incompatible with the display adapter installed on this system".
would flashing the bios allow the ati drivers to work with non-ati cards?

do a manual install.
unzip the files into a folder

then go to system-->R8500---->update driver
specify a location

point to the folder.

I just have to add that I have a "Built by ATi" Radeon VE and I got them from the specific option for drivers in ATi's site....
To get back to the point yes I have a game my VE can play above 75...! It's Quake III and I concluded that NO, ATi's vsync still doesn't work in this set.... I figured out setting it on both from card properties and the ingame setting but still fps goes far over 60 (my refresh rate @1024x768 under Quake) where it was supposed to be limited with vsync on. Anyway we can't have it all at once....! 😀

will these drivers work for my hercules 3d prophet FDX 8500le?

From what I've heard you prolly wont be able to.....

I would recommend you check out the Omega/Plutonium X1.0.71 driver a tweaked version of the 6071's, I'm fairly sure it dosn't care what brand card you have. PPL seem to getting good results from it, head to the Rage 3D Forums for more info.
