Greetings to all.

I am set to build my first Athlon system very soon. The main function of the machine would be a little movie & graphics editing and a little music production. Before I buy the pieces, I seek guidance from those significantly more knowlegable than me on the subject.

Here is the hardware I am pretty much set on using:

either an A7A266 or A7V266 for the motherboard
a 1.4Ghz Athlon for the CPU - and -
an ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon 32 DDR for the Video Card

However, these are my questions:

Which of the two motherboards are better for the 1.4Ghz chip? I am pretty commited to Asus for reasons of personal preference, but another DDR board by Asus would also be considered.

What kind of DDR ram works best in Athlon/Asus boards? I would like to get either Crucial or Kingston, but Registerered/Unregistered? ECC/Non-ECC? I am looking at either a single 256MB stick or a single 512MB stick to start off with, will it make a difference later?

Any reports of the ATI A-I-W Radeon not being compatible with the Asus boards? I wouldn't think so, but you never know.

What about Soundblaster compatibility.

I really am unconcerned about RAID or overclocking. Although a board with it is not necessarily disqualified.

A built in NIC would be nice, but not necessary.

I appreciate any and all help given.

Bump?

If I am wasting my time asking, someone please notify me.

If I have included too much information at once, someone notify me.

Obviously I am new here, so I am unfamiliar with any rules that may be in effect.

However, I am serious about building my first Athlon System and would like the feed back of the 'motherboard experts'.

I was told this forum was the place to go to ask questions about Athlon motherboards & systems.

Was I told wrong?

Thanks again
