Sorta RAID... but not?

What I'd like to do is put say, a 60GB HDD in my computer right now... then when it it almost filled up, would like to add another 60GB HDD and the data would just "roll over" onto the new HDD, but appear as the same drive (120GB total). I'd like to do this with 4 drives total in the long run. I know the first choice (maybe only?) would be to setup a striped RAID, but that would mean I'd need all 4 HDD's from the start, which is the thing I can't do. Is there anything that would allow me to add them one at a time without having to copy data back and forth? Thanx!

P.S. - I'm asking this half because I'd like to do it, and have I'd just like to know if it's "possible". Cheers!

What os are you running. if you're running nt/2k it is possible, its called using volume sets. you can setup any number of drives/partitions to be viewed as one drive. the only thing is that you cant have your os/boot partition on the volume set.

I'm running Win98 now, but only till after our LAN Party, then I'll be installing Win2k. Can I "add" to a volume set after it's been created without disturbing the information currently on it? Like I have written to 80% of the original disk all ready and install a new one... Can I dynamically (if that's the right term I want) add the new drive to the current set without any troubles?

Sorry if that's redundant of my original question, however I'm still a little blury. Thank you though, now I have something I can at least read up on more :) Woohoo!
