What ever dude...Ford usually under-rates their engines...my stang dyno's near 320

i thought thats sorta what toyota does...since they are going for reliability not power.

Toyota builds cars that are better than Ford, but have no soul. End of story.

fords have souls?

Ludacris is a name. It's ludicrous. Conform or die trying, bitch. 😛

I don't even have to bother reading this thread to know you're a complete moron.

Your dads minivan is american too. Cuntbag.

You just owned yourself. Do you realize that Dr. Porsche started both Volkswagen and Porsche? I'm not sure what their current relationship is, but I do know that the Cayenne and Touareg were developed jointly by the two companies.

i beat you to the dr porsche reference, but i noted he designed both the VW Bug and the Porsche 911 (pretty similar in design if you ask me).

you little nubs, here's a history lesson for you guys...

Dr. Porsche didn't start Porsche AG until later in his life (when his son took over). Before that he focused his design on the VW Beetle. Dr. Porsche spent most of his life in the racing career, and designing machines for hitler under daimler-benz. Dr. Porsche also designed one of the first formula 1 cars.

The first Porsche is called the 356, and it is named after Dr. Porsche (356 Ferdinand). After the death of Dr. Porsche, Porsche AG and VW went seperate ways. Eventually Daimler-benz became Mercedes-Benz, and the Auto Union became the present day Audi. They also combined with VW somewhere along the way. So technically, VW and Porsche AG are now seperate companies.

So why do they share an identical SUV chassis/frame? Its becasue Porsche AG and Audi/VW never had the experience on building an SUV frame. They decided to use an identical frame made by this one company to save the cost of developement. Porsche is also known for asking other company to build their chassis (such as the 959). They did NOT joint develope their SUVs, but they did joint purchase the SUV chassis.

Btw my friend drives a Cayanne Turbo, a Toureg is no where near what the Cayanne Turbo would be.

Ford has a lot of business relationships with Toyota, or they have had them in the past any way. They also have a lot of business relationships with Mazda, but they don't own either one. Perhpas a small stake in Mazda, but I don't think they own any part of Toyota.

Other companies have business relationships with Toyota as well. Pontiac (GM) does with their Vibe (Matrix) and even Lotus has some ties with the Elise (1.8L Toyota Motor). But yet GM owns Lotus. So basically, the auto industry is convoluted and confusing sometimes, and so its easy to make mistakes like this.

However, the bottom line is that your completely wrong. If Ford owns any part of Toyota, its a very very small and insignificant stake. What ties they do have with them are model crossover ties, and merely business deals.

GM doesn't own lotus. the malaysians do.

1) Ford has little IF ANY business ties to Toyota. Ford has no controlling or even minor controlling interest in Toyota. Toyota is big enough to swallow up GM, Ford AND Daimler-Chrysler if it wanted to
you're dead wrong on that one. just because toyota has enough cash on hand to buy all the outstanding shares of one company doesn't mean they wouldn't get the debt. and they are not big enough to handle all that debt.

I just found out that Toyota is owned by Ford. Actually, a lot of "foreign" cars are now owned by American companies like Ford, GM, and Chrysler. Saab is a GM. Volvo is a Ford too. So is Lexus.

Sorry guys but you got American cars whether you like it or not 😛 I think Honda is the only one left 🙂

Welcome to about a decade ago. . . sheesh.

actually, the pietsch family owns controlling interests in both VW and porsche. the only reason your statement is ludacris [sic] is because the ford family owns probably very little of toyota (wouldn't be surprised if they owned some as part of a proper diversification plan)

alright so I'm wrong you don't need to send me PM's calling me names 😉 (thanx cyclohexane for giving me the benefit of the mistake) I was just saying what I heard. I personally thought it odd but I just thought I'd stick it on ATOT just for the heck of it.
And I'm wrong, fine - I don't care 🙂 Even if they were owned by ford I wouldn't buy one anyway!

BTW, the car I drive is a 1993 Ford Taurus GL with a 3.0L engine and I couldn't ask for more from a 12 year old car. Almost 129K miles and runs great, no problems whatsoever. Just a slight bit of rust that isn't visible unless you know where to look (never had to do any body work on it). It looks sharp for being 12 years old. Personally I want to get a chevy camaro z28 at some point but hey this is reliable wheels I got right now.

Let this thread die, I was just bored when I posted this anyway 🙂
