Sorry.. I know this is in the wrong section but I need a quick answer and it takes forever for threads in Networking to be replied too..

Would be just be easier to turn on DMZ hosting whenever I want to put my FTP server up?? I'm behind a Linksys BEFSR41 router and the port forwarding option works but with only 1 port.. the way I've got it setup anyway...
Oh yeah.. and turning off DHCP has always screwed up the net access on the computer that the FTP is running on.. I would have to reset the router and re-enter my settings to get net access back.

Will I have to turn off DHCP for DMZ hosting?

will hosting the FTP on DMZ be easier?? Will it free up the ports? What would my IP address be??

Any ideas?

Why would you want to set up DMZ when port forwarding is so easy on the Linksys router. I have the same router as you (with the exception mine is V. 2) and it is really easy to set up the forwarding.

I can't seem to get it to work properly..... newest firmware version..

In port forwarding, I setup a port range of 27015-27025.. enabled TCP and typed in my local IP. Disabled DHCP..
Then in Bulletproof v2.15.. I setup the "Listen on port number" a value of 27015.. then in the Multi Ip settings.. I type in my REAL IP addy in the passive mode setting and type in my passive ports range of 27015-27025.

Isn't that right? It works that way but only one person can download at a time..

If I set it a port range of 21 to 21 then whenever someone tries to connect.. they get stuck when "Entering Passive Mode" comes up..

Obviously I don't know jack about this..

You can forward ports 21 to 31 (or 21 to someother number) and not run your FTP site in passive mode. That is how mine is run and it works fine. Send me a message on AIM if you want help setting it up.

If you're trying to connect to your own ftp, most routers require you to use your lan IP, not the one for your wan.
