here are my new system specs...

AMD X2 4800+ (thanks AMD for your support!)

DFI CrossFire Motherboard

Two X850XT PE (for crossfire)

73GB 15.3K Seagate Cheetah U320 SCSI

147GB 10K Fujitsu MAP3147 U320 SCSI

2 X ROMS (DVD writer and DVD ROM)

SCSI Controller Card + Soundblaster Audigy 2 NX

2GB OCZ Platinum RAM

will the OCZ Modstream 520 provide stable power? I know it has only a single rail and i am afraid of its stability...

I think you will be cutting it kinda close. the power consuming things are the two x850xt's, and the harddrives. I think Nvidia requires at least 500W for SLI, and with two of those huge cards, yeah it might be a little close.

make sure you arent just picking up 2 normal cards. One has to be crossfire enabled.
Personally, I would go with a seasonic S12 600watt power supply.

I have a similar question. A guy I know is getting an

AMD Athlon64 FX 57
2 200GB W.D. 7200RPM Hard Drives
2 7800 GTX
2 gigs of Kington Hyper X (2x1gb dual channel, PC3200)
5 case fans
Asus A8N SLI Deluxe NF4 chipset
Creative Labs SB Audigy-2 ZS 7.1
1.44 MB FLOPPY DRIVE
2 Optical Drives(I believe both are DVD-RW)

But his PSU he wants is 420 W, and its an onboard with a case. Should I recommend he chose a different PSU?

YES, the 420w is not enough for SLI and a 57...get the 600 or 550w powerstream or modstream...
