It's supposed to be. The BIOS states that it is a 3.8GHz CPU installed and it's running at 3.8GHz!

I suppose CPU-Z could be wrong and not calculating it correctly. What other software can I run to check it's running at the correct speed. Got all paranoid now. :)

I believe it is because of CPU throttling. The computer will reduce the clock speed when it is not need to run at full speed to save electricity. Disable it and try again. If that fixes it then I recomend you go back in to the BIOS and re-enable it, power optimizations are a good thing.

Hi guyz. It's all to do with Enhanced C1 Control in the BIOS. Basically the CPU power consumption is reduced whilst idle. Thanks again guyz. :)
