People who give their intellectualism too much credit probably think it's brilliantly making some kind of statement on bringing criminals to justice (that our legal system doesn't go far enough). Other than that, it's a movie that tries too hard at being stylish and dramatic but is obviously forced and poorly executed. Over-f'in-rated.

this is odd it is one of my all time favorite movies, there is a plot to it, its fun, and i dont get where the grotesque fight scense comments come from. the figt scenes are far from grotesque compared to alot of other movies ive seen, a lot less blood guts etc. and the ending is one of the best parts in the entire movie. but if u approach it with doubt and dont think you are going to like it then u probally wont which is like almost everything else. and crouching tiger supposedly has a love story plot according to my brother... yet i felt that it was just put in as an interlude so that it wouldnt be constant fighting... and the tree fighting? just seemed dull to me.

some of you might recognize my sig...

Well I (your brother) am right CTHD does have a love theme. 2 of them actually if you were paying attention which they space out with badass fighting. guess your too young to understand

yeah ok 2 but they are kinda weak so easily forgetable since almost 90% of the people that saw the movie only remember the fight scenes and went for the fight scenes..

since this isnt our personal bitching thread im not gonna bother with responding about whos right anymore since it is a matter of opinion. but in reference to the totle of the thread no there are move overhyped movies considering boondocks saints was more of a sleeper/underground hit i wouldnt say it was hyped that much at all. i mean if you want hype just think.... star wars.. episode1...

i'll agree with what you just said and, in deference to it, change the title of this thread....

It is not supposed to be an arts flick. It's an action movie and a darn good one of you ask me.

eh, I enjoyed the movie. I liked the dad, and I liked willem dafoe's character. It was 10 bucks at BB and I bought it, but I haven't watched it yet.

Charismatic young stars Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus play two Irish brothers, Connor and Murphy, who believe themselves ordained by God to rid the world of evil men. Their first killing is in self-defense; but after that, they start killing with devotion, gunning down a summit of the Russian mafia. Willem Dafoe plays a gay FBI agent (he listens to opera while examining crime scenes) who knows what the boys are doing but feels that their vigilante tactics are necessary. There's not much plot to The Boondock Saints--it's mostly a series of violent scenes in which the boys are partially ingenious and partially lucky. The movie seems to want to provoke debate about vigilantism, but the scenario is too implausible to stir any real controversy. The peculiar mix of earnestness and machismo will not appeal to everyone, but it's certainly unique and may acquire a cult following. --Bret Fetzer
