Soooooo....my car got broken into again.

I don't lock my doors since the first one...really, who needs a busted window. But I also don't leave anything in my car. A few others in my underground parking also got broken into last night.

I priced out a Viper car alarm with a pager, and am going to get it installed like such;

- Lights and siren to be on a toggle switch so when switched off, no siren will sound and the lights do not flash.

- No flashing LED in the dash to notify of an aftermarket alarm

- Just a pager to let me know when the alarm goes off, so i can get dressed and get downstairs in about 60 seconds.....

I really hope I catch the bastards!

Why would you not want the flashing LED? So he won't know that you know and you can catch him red handed? Doesn't seem so smart.

Why does that not seem smart? Its a stealthy install, and no, I don'y want them to know I have an alarm. I want to kick some azz.

how about... buy a viper snake and have it pop out of a compartment, you will find a dead body the next day hopefully.

Have you considered the possibility you may be brutally beaten if you surprise them? 😕

Or the possibility they might have a gun and shoot you?

Although, if they are unarmed and you kick their ass that would be pretty sweet.

My car was broken into also, I have been looking into alarm as well.

OP, I would have to say that not getting the red blinking light seems like a bad idea to me. I know it would be nice to catch the crook and smash his face in, but consider the possibility these people have no problem stealing. They certainly do not want to be caught and might resort to anything to keep it that way. If you do have the red light it deters that from breaking into your car in the first place, and if they do break in your pager will let you know in which case you notify the authorities of a break in in progress at your address. Hopefully they will catch him and take him off the streets.

My car has a factory flashing red light, as do all Ford's. The light does not deter them as my neighbor has a flashing light LED (although no alarm) and they still broke in. I also don't want a hole drilled in my dash.

Chances are, the criminal system would slap their wrist as long as they promise not to do it again.
