on my last job i had to spend hours with hundreds of cages of lab mice and inject them, or put them through tests (really stinks you up). my boss hated me and was constantly looking to fire me, i often had to work 10 hours with 7 hours worth of pay, the commute takes over an hour each way, and one night i stayed so late, i saw a real human corpse in the hallway that they will probably do an autopsy on. and oh yeah people in my lab are all ass-kissers that they go into work on some hloidays.

don't work as a lab tech in a school. maybe it was just my luck. but i guess i topped the OP.

at least you're in a freezer :) imagine working in a factory that doesn't have AC (I use to work at a distribution/packaging/QA wearhouse for Linksys. but it was first shift, and I got to listen to my iRiver, so it wasn't that bad. You should consider an mp3 player- it makes life THAT much better/

I got a chance to live in Spain for the summer on a study abroad, it was a pretty nice way to learn the language. I was surprised how little English they spoke, I took several cabs and none would speak English.

oh yeah, another suggestion- might as well get some really large cans for some high quality music and they warm your ear pretty well too.

I spent 12 hours standing on a bridge controlling two way traffic through one lane on a walkie talkie without being able to take a break and a 13 hour night shift doin the same bullshyt the next day. Personally I think I have the sh!ttiest job in the world.

Classy. Real classy.

QFT man. Those drunken Mexicans are gonna totally knife you after they finish with their dog and cock fights and finish drinking their tequila. Then the haggard looking ones that work in the tomato fields will come and knife you...

I love working nights, personally. I used to work 9pm to 6am at Kohls. Its quiet, no customers to bother you. At that job, I learned just how perverted the minds of 40+ year old women are. Only downsides to that job were 1) I had school from 10am to 4pm and 2)All the weather happens when you're at work. Really sucks to have to leave the cozy warm store to find your card buried under a couple feet of snow or encased in ice.

I work for the USAF now, working hours change every other day. Keeps me on my toes.

Job market is just fine where I am, did you think that having a degree automatically got you a decent job? Maybe you should move if the best job the area can offer is turkey tosser.

That's the same kind of work I do! It must me true since I'm of mexican descent! I guess we are just born into it. I wish I had the ability to be as intuitive as you so that I may be able to break the cycle. I never have time or money because I'm too busy doing Mexican work aka weed eating/hedging/cutting down trees, etc... so that I may be able to make something out of my life and get an education so that I could stop having to do mexican work and maybe do some american work like driving an 18 wheeler. ;)

seriously...

Nah, education is meaningless next to connections and a flexible moral stance. After grad school with 4.0 GPA as an undergrad and grad student and paying my own way through it, I was under the delusion I'd have life decent. Instead I get to clean out retain rooms filled with the nastiest chemicals you can imagine in a shed on blacktop in the middle of Summer and get sick for a week. I catch pneumonia trying to run down a pneumonococcus contamination and almost die cause I didn't have health insurance cause when they tried to force me to release some contaminated materials I quit and turned State's evidence. I had a lot of problems finding a job after that, it's not an honest industry I work in. I worked during my undergrad and grad school, sometimes 2 jobs cause the pay sucked. Do I sit back and cry over my misfortune? Nah, but it's annoying to see threads like this.

I was in several hundred fights growing up, smart kid in a bad neighborhood. I suppose that's a large part of it, I don't fit in with the white collar crowd. When the teachers would point out to the class how I got a hundred the next highest was 50, I knew several other kids would want to fight me at given opportunity. Being put forward a couple of years didn't help at all, in fact made it worse, but I told myself it was my ticket out of the crap. Education would save me from it. I think people need to wake up and realize the American dream died before we got to live it. Yet I count myself lucky that I'm not living in a society where resources are as great as they are. Definitely a lot of people worse off so I don't feel the right to complain, what I state is more to explain.

i did go to college

job market is just that fing bad

QFT

im hate how people stereotype those that work in non white collar jobs as non college educated. I still wait tables, but only part time and like 1/2 the people their have a 4 year degree and the other half is in college

poli sci, philosophy are the majors of the kids I know that couldn't get a job.

a 4 year degree isn't the same across the board.... which ones do your co-workers have?
