its friday night and your at the bar. school/work is finished for another week and you have nothing to do tomorrow but watch cartoons and maybe hang out with your buddies.
it gets late so everyone decides to call it a night. you go home and hop into your toasty beds for a long nights sleep.

as you were all warm in your beds I was in a -34 oF freezer lifting hundreds of 40lb boxes full of frozen turkeys and other things, and building skids with them. my weekend being Tuesday and Wednesday I have a long time to wait till I can sleep at the same time as normal people.
I am not complaining because no one said I have to work this job, it just realty sucks is all. so I am going to quit on Thursday?
don?t work nightshifts.

And here I thought you were going to tell us you had to wipe off some emo 16-year-old's brains off the walls and clean out the chunks that fell into the cracks of the window sill.

I work for a highway maintenance company, we spend a lot of time picking up trash along bridges/roadways (same work prisoners are forced to do) and a lot of time weed eating/hedging/cutting down trees with a chainsaw (same work mexicans do). I spent 12 hours standing on a bridge controlling two way traffic through one lane on a walkie talkie without being able to take a break and a 13 hour night shift doin the same bullshyt the next day. Personally I think I have the sh!ttiest job in the world.

When that happens I find dental tools get into the crevices pretty well.

QFT man. Those drunken Mexicans are gonna totally knife you after they finish with their dog and cock fights and finish drinking their tequila. Then the haggard looking ones that work in the tomato fields will come and knife you...

Im actually trying to get on the night shift at my day job, it pays 15% more. Im a night owl anyway and usually work evenings at my 2nd job waiting tables.

But then the night job is pretty easy, sitting down doing nothing but over the phone tech support, even though I wait tables for far few hours then my day job, its more exhausting because im constantly walking around and lifting things.

Warehouse work. Fun stuff.
I did my brief warehouse stint in one lacking any climate control. 100F+ in the summer. Dank, still air. At least there was no sunlight beaming in. Those boxes ranged anywhere from about 2lbs to 126lbs.

Funny thing - the warehouse I worked at was a Home Depot warehouse. I was sometimes referred to as "the white kid" and everyone would know who they were talking about. There were maybe 3 or 4 other white guys on the shift. Everyone else was Hispanic. Heck, there were even a few people there who did not speak any English.

I'm at school now. I usually go Mondays 7-9pm, so I pretty much have 6.5 day weekends. Technically, I should be spending my time studying, but mostly it alternates between going out with friends, reading books and watching stuff.

Its pretty good.

I had to do some concrete work inside a freezer like that, nearly froze to death just putting up a partition to heat the area so I feel for you OP. The cold was miserable.

I'm anti-social anyway, but I've always objected to the idea of "socializing Friday", I'm not religious, why do I need a "weekend"? It's all the same to me really.

<-- loves night shift\third shift.
<----doesn't work it any more :(

I worked in a freezer for a walmart distribution center during the summer. I liked it... the cold doesn't bother me, and it let me escape the texas heat.

but yea, it was a pretty cool experience.
