Soooo happy with my new Radeon LE

You should DEFINITELY upgrade your card. I just upgraded the same thing, a voodoo 3 2000 PCI, to the Radeon DDR LE. Let me tell you, the image quality is awesome. One thing that sticks to my mind is the bumpmapping for the voodoo... it looks all fuzzy and like crap. With the Radeon it's crystal clear.

GREAT JOB! i may be fairly new to posting in this (anandtech) forum , but i have viewed threads here as well as viewing and/or posting at hardware sites for well over a year now. the video threads in particular can and have gotten very nasty in the past , remember the old 3dfx/nvidia flame wars?? but yall worked together here to solve a problem , which is what these boards are all about , and it impressed the hell outta me , thank you! i want to buy this card too...my question is i play half life (tfc),madden ,Im going IN,Delta force Landwarrior ,S.o.F, Hitman COde 47.will it be ok with these titles.

Which Radeon Card is under 100 dollars that all you guys are talking about?

BTW :iam using a Voodoo 4 4500 as of now,is it really worth the upgrade?

While I have never used the Voodoo4 before, I feel pretty cnofidant that you can't go wrong with a new Radeon. For one thing, you could probably resell the Voodoo4 for at least $60, and get a new Radeon LE for around $85.00 shipped from NewEgg (www.newegg.com).

As for supporting your games, I believe they should all work fine.

Half-Life - Runs perfect
Madden 2001 - It runs fine on my machine, but I've heard people having some problems with this game.
IGN - Never played, I heard it works fine but u have to disable one of the HyperZ settings or you get tearing/flashing textures.
Delta Force Landwarrior - Never played
S.o.F. - never played
Hitman - Runs fine

I haven't played it either. But the setting you are talking about is &quot;DisableHierarchicalZ&quot;. HierarchicalZ is off by default just for this reason. It can cause some visual issues when turned on. Many of the tweakers, out there have you turn it on.

For anyone attempting to enable the HyperZ feature in Win2K here is the registry file I used. All the values are the same as Win9x but the registry key location is very different.

How is the win2k performance of this card? The article I had read a while ago here on anandtech was saying that it is unacceptable. I know new drivers have came out since then. Do the newer drivers bring the perfomance up to that of 9x?
