Old news for some, but new news for me. Found out today that the Prescott MIGHT not work with current i875 boards.
That is a real bummer considering I bought my Asus board about 5-6 weeks ago hoping that I would be able to upgrade in the future. I REALLY hope that the Prescott will be compatible so that I have the option to upgrade to that core or not on the same mobo.
If the 478 pin Prescott is compatible with current i875 boards, then maybe I'll upgrade to the fastest 478 pin Prescott available until they move to 775 pin socket T....OR should I wait and upgrade to the 775 pin socket T for the Prescott/Tejas with the Grantsdale chipset in Q2 2004? Grantsdale is going to be one badassed chipset; supporting DDRII at 533/400 and PCI express. NICE! Starting speeds will be 3.20GHz, 3.4Ghz, and 3.6Ghz I believe.
Also, what's the deal with the new VIN 1.5 specification? I believe I have that correct.
If anyone has any thoughts and/or updates about the 478 pin Prescott, let me know please.
Thanks and take care
