i was looking for another pair of headphones to use and decided on these.
the idea was good....no band, just clip the actual headphone piece over your ear and still maintain the loose and nonrestricting feel of earbuds but with headpiece quality (30mm drivers, etc)
the looks were nice too. it has a braided cord (not elastic though) with a very long 1.5m (total) cord design. for some reason, there is an extension cord which is 1m that plugs up to the rest of the .5m cord headphones. im not sure why they did this unless they plan on offering different lengths of extension cords or something, but oh well.
here is what turned me off about them. the clip on design is not snug by any means. it clips to the top or back of your ear, but then flaps around on the front part of your ear. so basically, the sound isnt focused into your ear canal, but escaping out the front. this was awful. i had to turn up the volume in order to get enough sound into my ears for "reasonable" sound levels.
despite this, even if they were firmly on your ear, the sound doesnt compare to the popular "headband around the back of your head" design that sony has now. I believe they call them Street Style or something. the model i have is the MDR-G52. im sure you all have seen them.
anyways, by all means, think twice about getting these headphones. yes they are supposedly geared to different genres of music (3 types of headphones...i got the ones for techno/trance) and yes they look nice and fresh, but functionally, they are 2 steps back.
*side note: i bought these at sony.com so i cant return them to say...a bestbuy. :frown:
