Hewlett Packard will be embracing Toshiba's HD-DVD format for next gen digital video discs as well.
Hewlett-Packard, the second largest computer maker in the US, recently announced that it would be dropping support for Sony's next generation Blu-ray disc format as an exclusive and will be adapting to Toshiba's HD-DVD instead.
HP said its decision to support both standards would put the company in a "better position to assess true development costs and, ultimately, provide the best and most affordable solution for consumers".
This move proves to be the biggest victory for HD-DVD against the Blu-ray ever since Microsoft and Intel announced their support for the format last september.
