Sony Wega?

I'm thinking of purchasing a Sony Wega 32". What are the main differences between the KV-32HS20 and KV-32XBR450. I know the XBR is better, but what exactly is better.

Am I better off buying some different to be fully compatible with the new HDTV that's going to be broadcast, or is the Wega's ok for that?

If I have a progressive scan DVD player and the DVD is widescreen. Can the progressive be done with the 16:9 enhanced mode? My roommate has a 32" non-XBR, and the 16:9 enhanced looks sweet. Is progressive much better?

Is there such thing as 1080p?

Thanks. I'd like to make a informed decision before I buy a TV that will last me (hopefully) a long time.

XBR ownz 🙂 get it 🙂 and get it at Circuit City Reading with 5 years in home service from me 🙂

i've got a 32' sony wega, the regular one. the XBR is the best bet. mine is not HDTV enhanced, and 16x9 makes dvds loook way beter. but if you had hdtv you wouldn't need it.

I have a 36" XBR400, and it is incredible.. I'm not really worried too much for the most part about picture quality when I watch tv (my Tivo compresses the footage anyway), but when I pop in a DVD... wow.

If you can afford it, get one and you won't be disappointed.

I think 720p televisions are difficult to find (the wegas don't do it, at least my 36hs20 doesn't) and most RPT don't either I don't believe. Of the major networks, only ABC is going to use 720p. And the set-top HDTV converter you have to buy for HDTV will convert this 720p to 1080i for your viewing (or to 480p or 480i also). 720p and 1080i are almost the exact same effective resolution, so you should see still EXCELLENT quality. What I WOULDN'T do is get a TV with an integrated HD Tuner.
