Got this from another thread about the TOSHIBA WIDESCREEN TV deal. But on browsing the site I realized that there are a whole bunch of TV's are very low prices, and best of all..some of them have free shipping.

The only problem is that I have never heard of these guys.So not sure if there is a catch.

Check it Out

I checked this site out, doesn't seem like they are good prices at all. Just from looking at things I've purchased over the last few months, it seems a lot of these prices are inflated, some almost ridiculously (check out the 2.4Ghz Panasonic phones).

I'm looking at buying a Wega, anyone know of a better price than these guys?

I found a place in New York selling a 27 Sony Wega FS12 for 490 including tax, but it's a local pickup.

I just bought a Toshiba 56H80 a couple weeks ago for the lowest price I could find. This place has it with free shipping for $2520, which is $85 cheaper than I got it for altogether when you take shipping into account. Their site layout sucks though, so I might be a bit hesitant to buy such a big $ item from them.

mastawoo:
you are right about the phones cos i too got on the $80.00 for the same model from staples deal a few weeks back.but the tv's are at good prices in this site esp. due to the free shipping and tax exempt ... makes it very attractive prices.its just the company reputation which is unclear.

Anyone know what TVs are Wega clones?

Isnt there a Panasonic perfect flat or something like that?

Is the quality the same?

Thanks!!

here's my two cents about a 27 inch sony flatscreen... I live in Atlanta and there is a military base over here w/ a PX (Post Exchange)... 350$ fot the 27 inch flatscreen when they're not on sale... bottom line... if you know somebody that works on a military base and has a military ID... get em to buy it for you... offer em an extra 50$ fot their troubles and it costs 400$...

robilium;
The panasonic Tau series are similar to Wega though most reviewers tend to favor them over Wegas. The 20" model, for instance has component video input and 600 lines of res. Comparable toshiba models have 500, and sony won't even disclose what their wegas pump out. Personally, my next tv will be a 20" Tau series.
O, and they're much cheaper if you compare features, etc.

I think some are good prices and some are bad. I've checked out two TV's I'm familiar with:

Toshiba 61 inch non-HDTV: Price is pretty good, $1649. I got it a bit cheaper
than this about 1.5 years ago via 800.com + MSN.com + Ebates + a bit more.
800.com has it now for $1999.

Sony KV36FS12: This is not that great a deal. Fry's had this a couple months
back (Feb) for $999. It's $1299 @ 800.com today and costs $1348. It may be
about the same price at both places, but I haven't checked out shipping.

In today's ad, Fry's has a 55" Toshiba non-HDTV projection TV on closeout sale for $999. Seems like a pretty good price for a 55" TV.

If you have limited space, this is the cheapest I've found the 24" KV-24FV12 WEGA $432.88. Let me know if you know where to get it cheaper. I'm thinking about picking one of these up for the family room.

RE: Lodgemart.com

Yeah but how much they charge for shipping?

This from their website...

*Most Items are Shipped Via UPS. Items that weigh in excess of 150 LBS must be shipped via common carrier. You will be contacted by a customer service representative with the actual shipping cost if a common carrier service is used*

I bought my last receiver from CrazyEddie.com. Everything was smooth, saved about 300.00 over local price. Got my 27" Wega from Circuit City for 569.99. They were cheaper than everyone else in town by 30 bucks. For good info on TV's check out Home Theater Forums. When I was looking I liked the JVC I'Art the best of the flat screens. It was too wide for my entertainment center tho:(

The Wega's are great sets, it you're satisfied with old NTSC technology..

Take a look at an HDTV, showing true HD (not many showrooms actually demo HDTV). The Wide aspect ratio (16:9) and the high resolution (1920x1080) make for an incredible viewing experience.

Of course, you'll want to see if your local TV stations support digital broadcasts yet.. Or, if you have a satellite dish & HD capable receiver, you can get HDTV movie channels.

Even if you can't get HDTV in your area (it's federally mandated to require the stations to provide it in 2002), DVD's are great in 16:9 widescreen format. (If at all possible, go for true HDTV! The HDTV quality blows away DVD's)
