Sony VeloCD 40/10/32 - audio rip quality?

CostCo has these drives for $142.50 plus tax. Sony's part number on the box is 321040. How is their audio ripping quality, compared to Plextor's PlexWriter 4/12? Does the drive re-read to do correction, or does it process the noise (and maybe the sound quality) away?

I have the Plextor already, but it cannot accurately rip a large set of CDs that I need to backup; lots of pops and skips. I don't believe they are protected, I think they are just badly made. They are absolutely clean and fresh out of the box, no scratches, so it's not a question of physical damage to the CDs. The PlexWriter can read other (undamaged) disks fine.

advTHANKSance!

i think you mean TDK. if you do, the TDK is supposed to be really good at audio rip. at least according to the company. it's supposed to be one of their pride and joys of their cd burners i think.
