Sony Vegas: Replacing a video but keeping the edits.

I have an HD and an SD version of the same clip. Both contain the exact same footage and audio. However, I edited the HD version by adding dozens of sounds, and cropped the video in a few select places. I was wondering if I could simply "replace" the current HD video with the SD video.

It's a little more complicated than just SD and HD so rendering it in a lower resolution etc isn't really what I'm aiming for. I'd like to simply replace the 1 piece of footage with another - while keeping all of the edits, crops, and cuts of the original.

Any ideas? Thanks.

If you have the project file saved you can easily do this. Just move the original file away from wherever it was stored before, then when you open the project file in Vegas it will tell you a file is missing. From there you have the option of finding the original file, replacing it or ignoring it. Choose to replace the file, then a browser window will let you select any file to put in its place.

Although, if you just want to replace a single shot just add that video file into the project and put it on top of the section you want it added.
