First off, I bought a laptop.
Sony VPC-EB33FM/BJ with windows 7 home something 64 bit.
Com port splitter (needed to run GPS) is only 32 bit.
I install win 7 32 bit and now I can't get drivers to install for the FN keys because they are: 1. 64 bit 2. only install-able if you have the original configuration.
Not only that, but sony comes with a ridiculous amount of bloatware that gave the laptop TERRIBLE performance when I first got it.
I mean it was nothing close to the performance now after freshly installing the OS.
Even after removing the programs and norton and running ccleaner, it just sucked performance wise.
My main questions:
What is the best route to buy a laptop new with warranty and install a fresh OS every time?
Do ANY laptop makers offer windows 7 without ANY bloatware?
Would I simply be forced to buy a copy of windows 7 for any laptop I get?
If so, that leads me to my next question: what brands have 32/64 bit drivers for wifi/fn keys (the only things I need drivers for) that don't take note of any part of your configuration?
You would think $1,000 would be enough to get a company to do something right, in 2011, and not require me to go through all this.
BTW the laptop has a screen as smooth as glass and performance better than my x4 desktop gaming rig (other than games)
But something as simple as the FN keys can make me return it...silly, isn't it?
