The main display went black the other day -- while nobody touched a thing. Based on a previous thread, I think that I have a short circuited speaker since I have another STR-D965 that failed similarly a month ago.
I'm hoping that someone can offer a miracle cure. The system still gets power to the external 120V outlets on the back panel and the "tape monitor" light still illuminates. The fuse on the power supply board looks fine and there are no apparent burned internal electronic components, etc.
Sony Tech Spt says to send it in for repair, but I can buy a used one for less money on eBay.
