Sony's hardware is good, but their proprietary Software sucks. Good deal if you already "have" EZ-CD Creator or Nero. Decent drive for the price.

Spressa drives are good... 4mb buffer btw for anyone who is wondering. Oh and by the way, "Maverick" some of us do buy software... :D.

Great burner.
Fully Clone-CD compatable, means it can read any cd info, and give exact copies that actually work, and that's at it's Max speeds, (unlike some other drives that need to be slowed down to get tough copies). I have yet to find a CD that I couldn't make a 100% working copy with this drive.

I have the SCSI version of this (running off an Adaptec 19160 card), and it rivals my 12x Iomega IDE Burnproof. Nice drive. Burns Mp3 to wave conversion using Nero in about 8 minutes at 8x. This IDE may be a little behind that, but I paid $150 for a retail one a while ago. So this is a great deal IMO. :)
