SONY SDM-S74/B LCD Monitor $299.99

read my thread, or go to gottadeal.com to get a 17in Dell with some better specs and about a hundred bux cheaper depending where you live. Unless you are a Sony fanboi

I guess they're fine if you're not a discerning user. My school lab has these and I've used them with no problems. Of course, I don't game or do any photo editing on them, but they're 8bit panels.

The Sony 8 bit panels are actually pretty good compare to some of other faster response time LCD's with 6 bit panels.

See here, for quick overview of LCD color depth.

I have a pair of these sony LCD's on my desk. I like them because they are black and have thin bezel, perfect for dual monitor setup. They also feel pretty sturdy and well made.

I have another 19" LCD, but I let me kids use it. Just feel the 19" have the same amount of desktop real estate, only have larger pixels which makes the graphic not as sharp. But they are easier on the eyes, that's why I give it to my kids.

I don't play first shooter games, but these LCD's have no problem with PRG type of games or DVDs.

I would not buy a LCD purely on the spec. These days too many company just go for good specs but lacking on quality, built and other factors. If I were you, I'd go to some store and look at the LCD's and decide for yourself.
