Sony says: Wii is an impulse buy.

Mud-slinging should be limited to the legions of fans/haters in internet forums. There is absolutely no need for corporations to attack one another in such a cheap manner.

Few, if any, people are buying the Wii because they were walking down the store isles, saw one and said "ZOMG AT $250 I CAN'T AFFORD NOT TO BUY THIS!"

...

Because there AREN'T any sitting on shelves. Hard to impulse buy something when people are purposefully going to stores in the early hours after opening to pick them up thus clearing out inventory completely.

That said, I find all of Sony's damage control to be absolutely hilarious. At least Sony is good for making me laugh.

The Wii was in impulse buy for me 😀 They had one and before I knew what I was doing, I bought it 🙁

So was my 360 and my PS3.

Since I got a new TV I dont seem to be able to resist the temptation of a shiny new console no matter what it is 😱

I've never owned a console and probably never will.

However, on the topic of impulse, more people might feel the urge to get a PS3 if it didn't burn holes in your pockets.

I almost impulsed myself into buying the PS3 just to have one. I felt dirty 🙁.

But you know the funny thing... Sony gets burned a lot now for DRM and such, but if I remember correctly, Betamax had no DRM in it, where VHS does. You could copy anything onto a Beta tape :Q.

if Sony is smart they will dorp the price of the PS3 to $400 and *also* make it an "impulse buy"

before they *have to* fire sale them at $200 😉

No offense, but the 360 is well established compared to the PS3. Let's compare sales of the PS3 after one year to how well the 360 did after one year.

I've heard it from many sources that the PS3 sold more in its launch months than the 360 sold in its launch months.

They are "dead last" currently, but I promise you they'll be far from it within a couple years.

Established or not, it's only a fair comparison if the stores have stock of the console to sell. The PS3 has been impossible to find here in Canada since launch. I couldn't have bought one if I wanted to.
