Hi,

Anyone have the Lexar 4gb memory stick pro duo? I'd found a deal for $35 but had never heard of the brand before. Just wondering how reliable are they or should I stick with sandisk/sony.

Thanks.

I got 2 from a previous deal, both work fine despite a lot of people claiming compatibility issues. Everyone else who ordered in the past also never reported any problems.

They suck if you run custom firmware (too slow to load certain VSH/GAME/POPS plugins), but for media they're fine.

Basically, they're fine for most people but in the PSP softmodding/homebrewing/etc. "scene" they're a no-no.

Says who? That's exactly what I use mine for and it's no slower than any other stick I've owned.

I ordered 2 two sticks earlier, now I'm not sure if I should cancel it. Does it matter which CFW version installed or depends on your luck?

It's nice that you don't have issues, but it's generally acknowledged in the scene that Lexars are crap.

Examples (google for many more): http://forums.maxconsole.net/s...=58822&highlight=lexar, http://forums.qj.net/f-psp-gen...-mem-stick-110129.html, http://forums.noobz.eu/index.php/topic,81.0.html

Not everyone will care if plugins won't load (hence "they're fine for most people"), but I thought the OP might appreciate the warning.

It has nothing to do with the CFW version, it's been the same since the first SE (2.71SE-A).

I've heard some of the newer sticks are okay, but I still see Lexar problem threads pop up all the time.

Thanks again everyone for the input. I should've done more research first before jumping on the deal; If anything, I'll sell those away and get the sandisk/sony.
