Sony PS3 Wireless Surround Headset - Anyone pick it up?

I went ahead and picked it up when I bought Resistance 3 and Driver: SF the other day on a whim. Was thinking about it, and just decided to. After getting my G930 7.1 wireless PC headset, I wanted something comparable for my PS3 (damn Logitech only making a stereo version for PS3). I've only used them for Driver: SF so far, but I can't say I'm exactly impressed. They don't sound that great, just average, and they don't seem to fit that well. The G930's completely cup my ears, which I love (albeit being a bit heavy). These just sort of sit on my ear, and because of the way they are shaped leave a gap towards the front. The 7.1 sounds gimmicky, though I haven't used it in an FPS game yet (gonna boot up Killzone 3 and try it in a few mins). The microphone is really short, though not sure it would matter. They are also damn ugly, but again that doesn't really matter.

Anyone have them or try them yet?

Something I have learned about the PS3, is that you dont have to use Playstatin accessories as I have used standard computer peripherals like Printers, USB Hubs, Memory Card Readers, Saitek Cyborg Flightsticks, Logitech Attack3 PC Flightsticks with full functionality. Various Wired, Wireless (MX Revolution), BlueTooth Mice and cell phone BT headsets all work as expected. I have plugged in Digital Still Cameras and the PS3 detected it and copied all the files (not using mass storage mode). On my PS3, I use a standard PC USB Sennheiser PC166 Headset with usb sound card and it functions well.

I have yet to try a PC webcam but I belive it will also work in place of the ps3 eye. I do know PC Steering wheels work but I personally havent used one.

My point is, You have other options.Sennheiser also makes a wireless headset with two variants avialable, a toslink spidf version using Sennheiser's proprietary Kleer wireless technology and a bluetooth version. Both of which I suspect will be of much higher quality than anything Sony may have to offer. My money would be on the SPDIF version with KLEER, because it will work with just about anything. Save some cash and try to reuse what you may already have.

General Rule of Thumb: If Windows can dectet and use a Standard Class USB device with out a driver install, chances are good that the PS3 will have no problem (the still cam, i cant explain).

(edit: your 2.0 channel faux 7.1 headset may not work with PS3 due to the possibility some proprietary psycoacoustic or holophonic processing done in the windows driver, but give it a try it may work with the ps3)

Sennheiser makes a few USB gaming headsets which use amazing dolby headphone technology. I would certainly give these a try.

I bought a pair. Got it more for PC than for PS3. Slightly awkward to wear, but comfy. Sound is meh. Biggest dissapointment is lack of options while using it with my PC. Can't adjust the mic gain and while they work great for games and videos, it wont work when paying music.

Right, USB headsets work only on the voice channel with PS3. So if you have more than 1 person playing on the same console, you can each have your own conversation provided you use 2 usb headsets. Bluetooth cell phone ear pieces also work, if you have one then reuse it and save some cash.
