<< Didn't anyone think of CALLING the 1-800 number????

IT is a TYPO. Price is $2249. Your orders will be cancelled. Checkout is disabled.

get some sleep.

:D
>>

Yeah of course we thought of that.. But any smart guy would know not* to call them.. Hm.. maybe we all should be good consumers & call them so they can change the price + not ship anyone's order. Read the whole thread before you post.

Well, you know the old saying, "If it's too good to be true . . ."

I called the CSR . . . She has a very good sense of humor . . . it IS a PRICING error. They KNOW about it. She assured me ALL the orders for $249 will be cancelled.

In your Ferengi lust for a hot deal, did you not notice the 1-800 number?

<< their poor web guy was probably sitting at home in his jammies when his boss called and chewed him out. Oh well, my order is in. I'll be waiting outside for the fedex man to come with my comp and cam. Should be any minute now...
how do u know they're coming?? u got email saying ur stuff shipped???? or u just joking?!! dreaming??!!
>>

Slim. If youre gonna be in the forum then get used to alot of sarcasm. Someone saying they are waiting outside for the fedex man at 11pm only 4 hours after the thread started couldnt be serious. Im not going to sit at my doorstep until tomorrow morning...

(BTW. Youre a bit overexcited on this. Web mistakes happen alot and Anandtech-a-teers are always quick on findng them but 99% of mispriced items dont actually pay off. Just relax a bit and wait for the explanation email they will probably send out tomorrow)

At least I'm not stupid.

Couldn't anything be more obvious? The CSR was laughing when I asked if all the prices were correct on their web site. She said, "You mean the $250 Computer and Cameral error deal."

Well yeah because someone called.. whoever first called them..

Otherwise they might've shipped w/o noticing the price. Believe me we do* have a lot of careless ppl on earth.. especially** at work.

Jeez. Way to ruin everyones fun. We were all planning on spending tomorrow chasing down fedex trucks like they were icecream trolleys, just hoping that our Sony comp and cam are in there ready to be delivered. Youd think an elite wouldnt be so naive... :)

It kills me how some people say "If it's too good to be true . . ." yet still feel the need to CALL to confirm their own suspicions. Perhaps if they would keep quiet, a few of these puppies could sneak out of the warehouse with pricing error in tact.

Even though I personally jumped on this deal (because I'm weak), he's looking at this from a REALISTIC perspective. You do remember reality? Companies are out there to make a profit. I hope you do realize that if Sony decides to fulfill all these orders they're losing $2,000 per order. Would any company in their right mind ship out 5,000 orders (fictious number) losing $2,000 per order = $1 MILLION LOSS

Hello? We all knew it was a risk, a gamble, if we get it then trust me I will rub it in everyone's face until they are blue but chances are they'll be the ones getting the last laugh.

Sony will NOT lose $2,000 per bundle.

Well yeah because someone called.. whoever first called them..

So you're saying if no one had called, Sony would have just shipped these orders tomorrow? They wouldn't wonder why their orders jumped 4,000% in one night? And everyone seems to be ordering the same item?

NO. Not because someone called. Because a slow moving high ticket item starts selling hundreds of units in a few hours.

I know about not blowing a legitimate hot deal. I called after the members reported that checkout was disabled just so the false excitment of "winning the lottery" could be put to rest.

And - although I saw this "deal" at the beginning, I didn't bother to order (or call Sony) until it got ridiculous.

You'd think an Elite and a Diamond member would know that the phonecalls can easily kill the deal.

Remember that KMart Nomad for $25. The first couple people actually scored one since shipping and ordertaking are automated. Its not until people start telling the company about their mistakes on the website that orders get cancelled. So it is possible that if there werent people calling then at least 1 person would have an order slip through. Im not expecting mine, but id be happy if one of the more (ahem) less serious members (ahem) would score one and rub it in our faces.

Member Status has nothing to do with Hot Deals protocol. apoppin is only being realistic.

Did you read my post above? Are you really naive enough to think Sony will lose $2,000 per machine?

Take that number times 5 orders that's $10,000. LOL.

And you'd think some people might learn to read what was posted before jumping to conclusions.

I think it has something to do with greed-blindness.

EDIT: We are not talking about a $25 order. We are talking about $2,000 for EACH order. Multiply that by 100 and you are talking $200,000. Do you think this was the only forum that jumped in on this? Multiply it by 500 and you have 1 million dollars.

And if you noticed, I was careful to call AFTER "add to checkout" was disabled and DIDN't mention the "special" by name.

Hehe, gotta admit that's pretty funny and appropriate for this heated thread.

I called in canada about 2 minutes after this was posted. They already knew about it then. I didin't even have to mention the computer in question. The rep was like yeah if you are thinking about buying the computer for 249.00 don't it's an error.
