Staples has the Sony NP-FM50 InfoLitium Battery ( 7.2v 1180mAh ) on clearance for $17.50. These batteries usually go for $50-$60. I bought one on a whim *THINKING* it was the right model for my old Mavica FD-91. Turns out that it needs NP-F550. Oh well, a good deal for anyone that has a "Mavica", "Cybershot", or "HandyCam" that does use this model. My local store had 3 in stock.

<"Infolithium" why do they talk to you?>

Actually yes, through your camera. It tells you how many more minutes of power it has left.

Holy smoke, thanks!! I bought one of these generic and it cost me $30...17.50 for a Sony one is a hot deal!! Unfortunately the newer TRV-33 camcorder doesn't work with generic (damn Sony!) so I had to pick up a genuine Sony one, hope they have it at my local Staples...Thanks!!

I'm also wondering about a SKU... There are some staples somewhat near, but they are about an hour away, and I'd hate to drive there and come back empty handed...

I have a Sony TRV-33 wrapped under the tree for my wife! Fry's Electronics had a $-150 instant in-store rebate on it for $649!!

Anyone have the SKU for this? I think my new TRV22 takes these.

The SKU listed on my receipt is " 027244258015 " , though that may also be the UPC.

On one hand it's pretty cool that these batteries communicate with you, but on the other it sounds like a typical Sony scam to make people buy accesories only from Sony.

It is enticing but I went to two of the Staples in town and none of them even carries MiniDV related products.

I just bought TRV33 from B&H and other accessaries, including a Power-2000 NP-FM50 battery. I saw the post before the order arrived and worried that TRV33 does not accept the third party battery. But nonetheless it DOES.

I think the deal at B&H is pretty good if you consider TRV33 yourself. I searched at pricegrabber and found that their price is very competitive ($629.95 with a $50 gift card and free shipping). You can not use the gift card for the accessaries when you order the camcorder though, since it is shipped separately from the camcorder. But I immediately ordered other accessaries such as Power-2000 QP-7400 adapter charger when I got the gift card in the mail.

Accessaries I got in total are: a Sunpak UV filter, 2 Sony 60-minute premium tapes, 1 Sony 60-minute excellence tape with cassette memory, Power-2000 NP-FM50 battery and QP-7400 adapter charger, and a 4-pin to4-pin IEEE1394 firewire cable.

Seems to be special order in my area (Tampa). The guy on the phone was nice enough to check the whole state and he said Tallahasse and Melbourne and some and they're $17.50 there, so anyone in those areas of Fl might get lucky.

Great! This will work with my Sony DCR-TRV350 . . . I'll have to stop by Staples after work.
