have a sony pcg-grx570 laptop. screen got demolished so i took it off and used a regular moniter on it. hdd crashed so i had to reformat the drive. put the win xp pro in the cdrom but it will not boot up. the cdrom spins and also the hdd, but the screen is blank except for the blinking courser. do i have to have the lcd for it to boot or is there a way i can make the bootable cd boot up on the moniter. thanks in advance for any help...slyedog

been using it on the moniter for abt two months. no trouble. only thing was wrong with the hdd was viruses and pop-ups

did all that plus used another cd. someone told me that the moniter will not boot up because the driver is not installed. sounds strange. tried to boot with a thumb drive. but no luck also

hey there. My opinion is it has possably let go. It is a bit of a co-incidence, but the driver thing just is not right. The screen fires for the bios before any drivers load. As a last ditch effort, I would reset the Cmos and try booting then. Might just be a tempramental problem. Reseting may be fiddly though :-S

I know that with the older toshiba lappys, there were ways to trip certain connectors in the parallel port to reset bios password, maybe there is an equivalent way to trip sony lappys into resetting BIOS???????
google may be your best mate
