Sony MDR-V600 vs MDR-7506

I'm looking to get a decent pair of headphones for around that price. $75-$100

Grado SR-60's
Stick some flats (for bass), or HD414 pads and mod em yourself (vwap mod) and boom.. Good headphones.

the v600s are considered much worse than the 7506s or V6s.

And if you want open phones, like ricemarine said, the SR-60s wouldn't be too bad (I have heard they are uncomfortable though) or the Senn 497s.

DONT GET THE 7506! They are overpriced MDR-V6, buy the V6 as they are cheaper than than 7506. The 7506 are just re-number V6s. Google a place to find the V6. They can be found for like 60 bucks. I have a pair that is over 15 years old and still kick a$$.

Oh yeah, dont get the V600 either. They suck. Only good cans sony ever made were the original MDR-V6.

I'd stay away from Sony entirely, but especially the v600. Is sound leakage a concern (do you have a roommate who'd be disturbed by it, or want to cut off outside noise)? How about portability? What sort of music do you listen to? There are a lot of good phones out there, but which is right for you depends on some specifics. And if you can, it's always best to audition phones before buying.
