The ps3 itself is also scary. From the numbers and features going around it trumphs the xbox 360 in every way and form (maybe not shape, george foreman grill anyone?). But all jokes aside its simply a technological masterpeice.
But thats not what caused me to post this..er..post. In the newest issue of GameInformer magazine it has a small article of sony controling your brain. In it it tells how sony is patenting tech that beams sensory info such as tastes an images into your brain. :Q
Anyone else find this disturbing?

Sony is mostly hype. I'm still waiting for the developers to unlock the true power of the Emotion Engine. Maybe by the time PS3 comes out, they will have and I wouldn't have to upgrade.

Interesting, I read the M$ has higher bandwidth and more shaders... IMO if cell was really a revolutionary processor, it would have been trumped on the PC market a while ago.
Sony/IBMs cell proc couldnt handle the loads of a computer, weird as it sounds - i know a guy who interns at IBM that worked on this processor. So I had the inside scoop for a while =/

I hope thats not directed at me. The Emotion Engine is the name of the GPU of the PS2. It's kinda like saying I have a 6800GT in my PC.

It was not directed at you. I know what the Emotion Engine is.

Time was, Sony Corp was an unbeatable force in televisions. Its Trinitron TVs ruled the business for decades, with consumers worldwide willing to fork over a premium for Sony's quality guarantee. That makes the company's July 28 revision of its profit forecast even harder for its execs to stomach.
...
At the same time it rethinks its TV business, Sony continues to cut overall costs. In the past two years the company has eliminated more than 15,000 jobs, saving about $3 billion. Sony says it will spend an additional $791 million on restructuring this year, and analysts predict 10,000 more jobs could be cut. Sony's TV division remains deeply troubled. The unit will likely lose $1.3 billion this year
That's a big problem, given that TVs today make up about a third of Sony's overall sales.

Yep, that hype didn't faze you at all.

Yeah, some of the stuff that they have on there is downright scary. But it'll be worth it once it makes its way to PC.
Can anyone tell me how it is possible for Sony or Microsoft to pack this much SH*T into a box and charge $400 and make money?! It doesn't seem to make any sense.

Yes, the ps3 will be amazing, it will trump xbox 360 in everything, even price. $299 for xbox 360, sony will trump microsoft with $599. 🙂
What computer related technology has lasted for 10 years without change?

Um, it's just clever marketing. Do you not remember how SONY claimed their EmotionEngine in the PS2 would provide (what is now known as) PS3 level graphics? Meh, I will only be afraid of SONY when they bring out the Worlds first SONY GUNDAM.
