i currently have a 30gb Creative Zen Xtra, its a lil bigger then the ipod which is why many dont like it, IMO its fine, fits fine in my pocket, has great sound quality and is easy to use, good 10-12 hour batter life as well, its about a year old

if i was gonna get a 20GB player RIGHT NOW, id get a Creative Touch, basically the same size as a ipod, 20gig, 24 HOUR battery Life, good interface and all that

if you have more to spend then the iaudio M3L is great, 35 Hour battery life, 40gb, smaller then the ipod,

if you want small players the Zen Micro is great 5gb small, 12hour batt that can be replaced
the Rio Carbon is smaller then the ipod mini, 5 gb, good bat life

AAC is a great format, its one of the main reasons I want to buy an iPod. No its not proprietary, its just more common for Mac users, WinAmp can play AAC's, and so can some Linux progs (forgot the names, go winxp!). WMA is crap, and RM is double crap, they both suck. If I could have any MP3 player I wanted, price aside, I'd take an iPod Photo 60 GB, its a great deal, otherwise I'd take an iPod 20 or a Zen Touch (friend got one, its fuggin awesome, but still bigger than the iPod, 4G that is)

you didn't do any research on the Creative Zen Touch and Zen Micro, did you? If I had to buy again, i'd still choose those over ipod and ipod mini, easily.

I agree. The sound quality was better in the Creative Zen according to multiple reviews, and let's see ....ummm...200 dollars cheaper for the same size in the Ipod.

Do I hate the IPod, no! But I hate that people won't go out and research the better products out there when the Ipod is the "hip" thing. Annoys me like crazy.

Why would he have to do research on the obvious? The main point is that iPod hasn't been killed as seen in its dominance of the hard disk mp3 player market. They also have great marketing.

From my experience I would never buy anything than a mini, 4 people in my apartment, 3 different mp3 players. 2 minis, 1 creative zen, 1 rio karma. Now you nerds should brace yourselves for this, but guess which two roomates are constantly rebooting and complaining about their players, have players which are much larger, and can't take their players running, exercising....

i run and go to the gym with my zen xtra, its NEVER CRASHED
i know 8 people who have had their 2nd Gen and 3rd Gen, ipods die compleatly
