Is it really a new standard or just a new package with a layout that is exactly the same pin for pin. I bet it is; they'll prob have adapters out when it's available. Sadly, it does make sense to be able to fit it into smaller devices in order for them to stay competative. (horrible grammar). Since it is most likely the same exactly hardware, they can still use the same external controller chips, etc. So long as it's the same MS tech, it's only going to help them, and if they don't do something really stupid, maybe even have a positive impact for the consumer (ha).

This is why i tell EVERYONE i know to not buy Sony products. Buy one of their cameras and you then have to buy their stupid memory sticks that won't work in anything else.
