Would my family be totally crazy to buy the 40" Sony Google TV from Fry's for $598 + tax? It doesn't seem like a terrible deal to me, but what do I know. It would be mainly for watching TV, movies, and Netflix, not really for games or stuff like that.

Basically, my mom and sister really want to get Netflix, and we don't have an HDTV currently. We'll probably also end up with an Apple TV and/or Roku 2 at some point, maybe both.
 
I have one, works well enough. Takes a few seconds to start up, but its otherwise pretty good for your described use.
 
I bought the Logitech Revue (GoogleTV) and I thought it sucked. If you need a TV anyways, than I guess it wouldnt hurt as long as it didnt drive the cost up. Most TVs with internet apps can do Netflix.
