I would recommend getting a Samsung 900NF or a KDS AV-195TF if you're in the market for a 19". Sony support _does_ blow: people have reported getting their monitors back in worse condition than before. Not only that, you have to pay for shipping it there.

Samsung and KDS give you advanced exchange so you're never without a monitor!

If you had to choose between the KDS and Samsung, which would you get and why? I dont need any more monitor disasters, therefore i asked because i heard nasty things about the sony unit. Im quite causioua after my last monitor purchase.. 5 exchanges later i got the monitor in perfect working condition. Was truely hell. Good thing the actual manuf was only 15 minutes from me. I had purchased the monitor online and shipping would have been hell. Thanks

Personally, I'd pick the Samsung 19" unit because it has better specs and the price is about the same. KDS isnt bad though, but I heard they also have problems.

I'd still go for the Sony, my G400 has been working well.

If you are going to buy a sony monitor I recommend getting it from Onvia.com. If you have any problems in the first 30 days they take it back at their expense.

nippy: Didn't they change that policy? Well as jimmygates said, there packaging really sucks. This is bad because you would want to order it online since they are so damn expensive but if you order it online you might become victim of their crap packaging and then deal with their crap service.

Venomous: I hate to recommend the 900NF because it might look like I recommend it simply because I own it. Well I went through the same decision as you and I picked the 900NF over the KDS for the reasons LXi specified. Oh, the 900NF has BNC if that is of importance to you.

Thanks for your help. Im getting the Samsung. Im not about to go through all the non-sense with Sony and RMA's. I can get it for $410 shipped. Seems the 900NF is backordered at a lot of places though.

I've got 2 G500 and I am not too happy with them. I went through something like 5 G500s before I found 2 that were acceptable. The first monitor would not memorize its settings so I had to resize the screen every time I turned it on. The other two had very bad convergence problems where colors didn't look right and text was fuzzy. Even the ones I've kept have problems with convergence but not as severe. Plus like a lot of what people have said, the Sony packaging is terrible. One of my monitors has a 2 inch crack in the back of the case but since the picture looked good I kept it.

Like the others have said, you should buy from Onvia, their return policy is fantastic. I would get my new monitor replacement without even having to send my old ones back first or giving a new CC authorization. The old ones were picked up and shipped free of charge as were the new ones.
